Electric Wind Generator
A lot of people nowadays are starting to get for themselves a do-it-yourself wind Turbine. The primary reason behind this is that most of the countries in the world have become more conscious about the seriousness of the pollution problem. Even the simple use of the auto engine has been widely depicted to be a major contributing factor in polluting the earth. But there is still hope. The use of natural elements for energy is one of the steps in achieving a clean and eco-friendly environment for us and for our children.
It is not new to most of us that the sun and the air are the two most common solutions to answer our energy problems. What makes them the two most vital sources of power is that these elements are practically all over the planet. To build a do-it-yourself wind turbine in your home, you will need at least three blades, a generator, a mounting, a control system, batteries, and a tower.
Upon building your do-it-yourself wind turbine, you will need to produce electricity by means of a DC motor. In choosing the model, you will want to go for a low RPM one that produces about 12 volts in 200 to 300 RPM. The blades required in this project can be those made from some iron pipe cut in half, or even an iron barrel. You will have to slice a blade from the iron barrel or pipe and fasten it symmetrically along the front portion of the motor. Once you have done this, get a thin and wide metal-made object and mount it on the structure facing towards the direction where the most air stream can be caught. This is very important in building your do-it-yourself wind turbine.
For the tower, you will need to have at least forty feet. This height would be enough to catch the necessary speed to sustain the generator, which has been suited to your particular power needs. Now that you have that put up, you then have to build it in a way that the motor can be placed right on top of it. A large tree stump can be used in the absence of a wide metal structure. Once you have lodged the tower into the ground and placed the engine on top, you can now use the batteries for storing electricity. You now have just made a do-it-yourself wind turbine.
